ALIEN 2 : ON EARTH - Midnight Legacy debut Blu-Ray release!

This is the beginning. While there will be future posts going into detail about Alien 2, this is really to give fans an idea of what we are about. Our commitment to completing each title correctly is something that even the most skeptical of people should be able to count on with every new release. Please see our mission statement on the website to see how Alien 2 and other titles will be presented. And MANY more titles will be on their way shortly. This couldn't be an attempt at seeing how the films do, it needed to be a full fledged promise that we could continue to release a multitude of titles in a very different time frame than what most buyers are accustomed to. And while it is very early to begin discussing other future titles, please be assured that 2011 will be the start of a landfall of releases; many of which have never seen a release past VHS many years ago. We had spent many months identifying titles and creating a pool of viable and complimentary films that could be released within the scope of the collection.

While each title should stand on its own, this collection should also stand as an example of a cohesive line. Each spine numbered release should be able to show a correlation between past and future titles. The bottom line is that we are trying to do something unlike what many have done in the past. I think the most important message we can hope to convey to all the fans, is that we are merely among you. We very eagerly await comments, suggestions, and moreover, feedback on what YOU would like to see. As mentioned in our mission statement, we are fans of these films, who understand them, cherish them, and want them completed correctly so that all can enjoy definitive editions that remain true to the reference materials. Whatever differences many of us have, this is an opportunity for all of us to work together in an attempt to save and restore these titles from the oblivion of VHS obscurity. YOUR participation is what is going to be the driving force, instrumental to the continued existence of, as mentioned above, maintaining a cohesive line that grows as do the years.

Much thought has been put into every facet to ensure that we have longevity in continuing to serve the serious collector as we have for over 23 years.

It should always be about the films, and with your assistance, that is the legacy we hope to leave behind.

Sincerely,

Bill, Dolph and Chris

  1. I'm very much looking forward to this first release from a new cult video company! Love the red bluray case as well. Hope to see many more as yet unreleased-on-dvd/bluray trashy Italian horror/scifi from Midnight Legacy in the future!

  3. It would be great to see some of the stranger Mattei movies like Robowar, Double Target and the Strike Warrior movies, and other Italian genre "classics" like Cy Warrior and Hands of Steel!

  4. We love that kind of stuff as well!

  5. Well I hope you sell all 30,000 copies of Alien 2 as I think a couple of Mattei double-feature discs would be fantastic :)

  7. I can't wait to get this on blu-ray and do a full review on my Obscura review website. A company that gives this much respect to its movie releases, deserves our support, so I hope the sales go well.

Who ever mentioned Bruno Mattei, I hope we get Hell of the Living Dead and also Umberto Lenzis Nightmare City.

This sounds like a fantastic release and will be a day 1 purchase.

  8. @Sam: Those movies have been on DVD for a while now.

Will this be exclusively Blu-Ray or will there be standard def releases as well?

  9. Billy,

For now it is exclusively a Blu-Ray release.

  10. Great. Now I have to upgrade. Razzafrazza Blu Ray exclusives. I lose Code Red and don't have the tech for your releases. But I'll pony up for y'all anyway. This is EXACTLY the kind of stuff I love and there are fewer and fewer guys doing what you're doing. Despite my whining here, please know I whole heartedly support you and this endeavor. You can count on my entertainment dollar. I consider it an investment. Best of luck!

  11. Thanks Billy!

You will be happy with the world of Blu-Ray as this is the closest to the actual film experience you can get. An investment well made!

Is there any chance of getting Ruggero Deodatos Raiders of Atlantis, it has never been released anywhere except on video tape. The film has a huge following and is one of the most requested titles across many horror forums. It realy is one of the forgotten classics.

  13. I think a beautiful English subtitled release of "THE BEAST AND THE MAGIC SWORD" would be exceptional if the two dialoug soundtracks-Spanish and Japanese-could be combined. Naschy and co. would speak Spanish while the Japanese actors would stick to their own (except when talking to Naschy it would switch to Spanish).
The use of tracks from the Spanish and Japanese video/dvd could lay the foundation if the original elements are gone..

  14. Any chance you'll unearth TOP SENSATION? - possibly the most wanted title ever :)

Can't wait to see the upcoming releases...

  15. Hi, just found out about this awesome project thanks to the Blu-review on High-Def Digest. Just one question: I had never, ever heard of "Midnight Legacy". What exactly have you been doing the past 23 years (as it is only now that you are entering the home video biz)? I read the "Mission Statement", but that didn't mention any past accomplishments, goals etc? So, as a newbie, what is "Midnight Legacy"?
